Essential ExtendSim with Modelling Techniques Training

This 5-day hands-on course covers essentials of discrete event simulation modelling using ExtendSim while applying it to a class project. The workshop is divided into two modules — three days for Essential Training and two days for Modelling Techniques.

The latter module takes the concepts learned in the Essential Training module and applies them to a class project. Participants spend time building the model from the ground up, giving time to reflect upon and apply the concepts they have just learned, while being guided by the instructor. Participants then learn and apply more advanced concepts to the model to understand appropriate analysis techniques. Topics include:

» Understanding the place of simulation projects within the context of process improvement
» Building ExtendSim models within the context of a simulation project
» Applying optimization in ExtendSim
» Understanding basic simulation statistics
» Learning validation and verification techniques
» Data management and exchange with an ExtendSim database
» Debugging and trouble-shooting

This 5-day course is designed for Operations Research/Management Professionals — Engineers, Managers, System Analysts — and anyone who wants to learn simulation modelling and/or get up to speed quickly with ExtendSim. It is appropriate both for those who are new to ExtendSim 7 and for beginning/intermediate simulation modellers. Course materials include:

• Instructor led course (1 x instructor for up-to 8 participants, 2 x instructors for 8+ participants)
• Professional Training Venue (www.anu.edu.au/admin/executive/anuhouse/info/facilities.html)
